This has to be one of the most uniquely useful tools I have ever seen for anyone on-the-go. Mobile applications were in the works when I first heard about this creative invention. According to their website, SitOrSquat.com was started just as a personal blog that essentially rated public restrooms. It has evolved into a website that allows you to search for toilets in an area you specify. The toilets are rated on a basis of "Sit" (safe to sit down) or "Squat" (better not sit), as well as 1 to 5 stars. Also included in the listings are user comments and reviews, descriptions of the place, features (like high speed hand dryer, baby changing station, personal items vending machines, etc.), and sometimes even a picture! Currently, the service is sponsored by Charmin.
Free mobile applications are now available for both BlackBerry and iPhone. You can search for toilets based on GPS location or address. Toilets found in each search are plotted on a map, courtesy of Google Maps. The BlackBerry version lets you use either Google Maps or BlackBerry Maps.
